KING PETE OF PORTAL

Venue - Portal GC, Cheshire

Winner - Pete Steed (-1)

Runner-up - Harry Gray (+6)

Hound - Rich Kapur (+27)

On a blustery Sunday in Cheshire original Tour member and all round Mr Nice Guy, Pete Steed, delivered a masterclass in taking 5-iron off the tee for safety, blistering to a comfortable 7 stroke victory over a suffering Harry Gray, by now firmly paralysed in Bridesmaid Curse purgatory.

Former Hound John Humphrey cast off his past demons with an excellent first round of -1 to lead after day 1, but was unable to maintain his form in the stiff wind of day 2. Future Jacket commissioner and Tour legend Brook McLaughlin made a quiet debut, finishing 6th off a handicap of 26, and gave a first insight into his maverick hitting tendencies, frequently seen traversing multiple fairways in a direction perpendicular to the hole of play in order to find wayward drives.

This Jacket will be remembered as the first featuring realtime electronic scoring and live leaderboards, courtesy of the revolutionary Golf Gamebook app, and the first featuring a swimming gala, won by Matt Johnson over John Humphrey in a 15m freestyle race.
