The inaugural Jacket, featuring a small but exclusive field of six players, was played on the marvellous autumnal heathland canvas of Mannings Heath in East Sussex. Over 36 hard fought holes Ufaq Qazi finished 2 shots clear of a valiant Harry Gray, whose unfortunate ability to 3-putt his birdie chances proved costly on the final 9 holes.

 

This Jacket will be fondly remembered as the birthplace of post-round hospitality and private dining, a rich tradition which continues to this day. It was also memorable for the magnificence of the first prizegiving, brought to life by the decision of MC and inaugural Hound recipient, George Posford Esq., to conduct the ceremony in a tuxedo. Sadly the tux was retired after 2013, along with his golf career.
